Sarah trained in graphic design at the University of Northumbria in the early 90’s and in her early career established herself as a painter. She is relatively new to print work.

In 2017 a grant funded project through Nidderdale Visual Arts gave her the opportunity to develop an aspect of her professional practice. The Nidd’s Source and early Journey was the resulting project and exhibition and saw Sarah’s work develop into screen print, drypoint and solar plate print.

All her work has a common route in development, collecting sketches plein air on long walks through the Yorkshire Dales and North East coastline and expanding the ideas back in her studio.

“Trudging through the landscape I feel privileged to be able to soak up all of what nature offers, and have happened across beautiful tucked away places. It’s a joy to be able to capture these moments in my sketchbooks and develop them into designs back in my studio in Ramsgill.”
